Criminal Law
"The standard of proof in criminal law in England and Wales and also under Common Law is very high. The guilt of the accused has to be proved to the court beyond all reasonable doubts. Therefore, before an offender is convicted, the state has to prove through necessary evidence up to the standard the court is sure the offender has committed the crime. An individual who has been charged with an offence cannot enter a plea half-heartedly. A conviction, if the courts finds him guilty, remains in his record as a scar for many years if not for the rest of his life. More seriously, its consequences may be very grave. Under the modern legislation, a conviction may result finally in a deportation to his country of origin. Our Barristers have right of audience right from the Magistrate Courts through to Crown Courts and above."
